What Will Students Learn?

Students will learn the fundamentals of drumming through rhythm games, group activities, and hands-on experience with a variety of drums and percussion instruments. Classes will focus on rhythm, counting, dynamics (playing loud and soft), coordination, listening skills, teamwork, and performance preparation. Students will work together to create exciting group performances while building confidence, creativity, and a lifelong appreciation for music.

What instruments will be used? The program will start out only with drums – but other instruments will be added in the future!

Because percussion instruments can be loud, earplugs are recommended for all students. Families are responsible for providing earplugs if they choose to use them.

After school ensemble classes go from school dismissal until 4pm on Mondays where school is in session. There will be no class on any Mondays that school is closed.

When registering, the cost will show as $0.00 as the first payment will be due on the first day of class. Costs are itemized below for the class plus the cost of a T-Shirt.

Fall 2026 Session

Classes start on 9/14 and end on 12/14
Tentative recital date: 12/19/26
Cost: $80/month or a one time payment of $320
T-Shirt: $30 additional added to first invoice
When: Monday’s from dismissal until 4pm
Room: Winnequah School, TBD

Spring 2027 Session

Classes start on 1/4 and end on 5/17
Tentative recital date: 5/22/27
Cost: $80/month or a one time payment of $400
T-Shirt: $30 additional added to first invoice (new students or replacement shirts only)
When: Monday’s from dismissal until 4pm
Room: Winnequah School, TBD

Please note the recital dates are subject to change pending other after school activity recital scheduling.

If you sign your child up for the Fall 2026 session, they are automatically enrolled for the Spring 2027 session as well. If the Spring session doesn’t fit into your plans, please reach out and we can unenroll your child from that session.

Class Cancellations

There will be no class on days the school is closed either for a scheduled day off or emergency/weather closure.

If the instructor needs to cancel a class, notice will be given via email by the previous day unless cancelled due to emergency. The school will also be notified.

After School Percussion Class T-Shirt

All students enrolled in After School Percussion will be required to purchase a Pepper Percussion class t-shirt.

The t-shirt will be used for performances. The cost is $30 per student and will be added as a registration fee.

Please indicate your student’s t-shirt size when registering.

Dismissal

Students will be dismissed at 4pm according to specification during sign up. Registration for each student will include options for YMCA/Rec Program/etc., Parent/Guardian Pickup, or Walk/Bike Home.
